A bold addition to the Leeds cityscape
The Broadcasting Place houses university’s Faculty of Arts, Environment and Technology, as well as some student flats, and is close to the main campus of The University of Leeds. A new Baptist Church completes the scheme on its northern edge. The Tower offers comfortable and contemporary interiors and stylish decor. The building is made from COR-TEN weathering steel, which forms a rust-like appearance when exposed to weather. In June 2010, the 70m tall Broadcasting Tower was the recipient of the 2010 Best Tall Building in the World award by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. It was short-listed amongst the giants of the Bank of America tower in New York 366m, the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai 828m and the Pinnacle at Duxton, Singapore 163m
