The oldest museum of Canada

Founded in the year 1860, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts is a major museum located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The museum has a vast collection of Ancient Cultures, European Art, Canadian Art, Inuit and Amerindian Art, Contemporary Art and Decorative Arts. Every year around half a million visitors enjoy museum’s amazing collection and its original exhibition combine fine arts, music, film, fashion and innovative design.

Considered as one of the most prominent museums in Canada, the museum currently holds nearly 35,000 objects – paintings, sculptures, works on paper, prints and drawings, photographs and decorative art objects – from Antiquity to today. The museum has about eighty paintings that are exclusive and unique. They are the collections of the paintings of the artist from different parts of the world including England, Canada and Australia.

Separated into three pavilions, the museum collections include: European art (works by Picasso, Dali and Matisse), Canadian art (from Antoine Plamondon to Pierre Gauvreau), decorative arts (from the Renaissance to today), contemporary arts (includes Riopelle and Joan Miro), ancient cultures (Tang Dynasty earth ware, Coptic textiles and more), Mediterranean archeology (extensive collection of Roman, Greek, and Ancient Egyptian objects).

Admissions: $15 adult; $10 senior; $7.50 student
Opening Hours: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sunday; Closed Mondays
